Turmeric, pronounced "TER-muh-rihk" according to Oxford Dictionary
Commonly used in Asian foods, turmeric is a spice derived from the turmeric plant. Known as the main spice in curry, turmeric can also be found as the root flavor to mustards, butters and even cheeses.
Turmeric root was historically used medically in traditional Indian medicine systems as well as Eastern Asian and Chinese medicine.
